Wellington Conservatives run and attend events throughout the year. If you would like to get more involved or just enjoy a social occasion please feel free to attend one of our events listed below.

Chicago Bridge and Lunch

Join us for the continuation of our series of Chicago Bridge events in the lovely setting of our Chairmans home just ourside Taunton.

Trafalgar Night Dinner with Guest Speaker

Taunton Conservative Associations annual Trafalgar Night dinner never disappoints and this one will be no different.

The event starts at 7:30PM and will cost will be £28 per ticket.

25th October 2011 - Wellington Conservative Club

Pie & Pint Night

Wellington Branch will be holding its second Pie & Pint night following the success of last years event. This year we will be using the Conservative Club in Wellington and as before following the food will be a game of skittles and a prize raffle.

This is an entirely social event and open to all so please bring your friends for a sociable night out.

The evening begins by meeting around 7pm for a 7:30 pm start.

Tickets are £10 which includes the food and a drink and can be purchased from Janet Reed by calling 01823 660584.

21st October 2010 - Oake Manor Gold Club

Trafalgar Night Dinner with Sir Michael Henry Gordon Layard KCB.

We are extremely fortunate in having Sir Michael Henry Gordon Layard  KCB, CBE accept out invitation to be our Guest Speaker.  He is a senior Royal Navy officer who went on to be Second Sea Lord.
Born 3 January 1936, he was educated at Pangbourne College and the Britannia Royal Naval College and commissioned into the Royal navy in 1954. He then trained as a fighter pilot. During the Falklands War he was Senior Naval Officer in the MV Atlantic Conveyor which was sunk by two exocet missiles. Subsequently he took a serious of senior positions.  In 1993 he was made Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel and from 1994 he was asked to combine this role with that of Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command.

5th September 2010 - Stawley Wood Farm, Wellington

Summer Lunch with Danny Kruger

Why not join us for our next social event, a Summer Lunch at Stawley Wood farm, Wellington.  The guest speaker for this event is Danny Kruger, a former special adviser and chief speech-writer to David Cameron. 

Danny, who stood against Tony Blair in Sedgefield, in 2004 graduated with a PhD in History from Oxford. His first job was with the Centre for Policy Studies where he became Director of Studies, responsible for research across social policy. From 2003 to 2005 he was a policy adviser to Iain Duncan Smith and Michael Howard, leaders of the Conservative Party.  After a period of time working as a chief leader writer at The Daily Telegraph, he returning to the Conservative Party as special adviser and chief speech-writer to its new leader, David Cameron.  He left David Camerons team in  2008 to run 'Only Connect', a creative arts company working with prisoners, ex-offenders and young people at risk of crime.

These events are relaxed and informal and a great opportunity to catch up with friends, meet new people and get involved with your local association and councillors. So please come along, support your local Conservatives and enjoy the afternoon.

Exit M5 at J26, head towards Wellington then follow signs to Exeter on A38 

Turn right to Greenham at beginning of first dual carriageway

After 2.5 miles at Appley Cross turn Right signed to the Globe

Next Left signed to Stawley (Before the Globe)

Remain on this lane for one and a half miles, through the small village of Stawley, down a dip then half way up a long hill the other side turn Right signposted Public Footpath into our drive.

Sunday 19th September 2010, West Monkton Village Hall, 12:30 pm

Thai Curry Lunch with Charlotte Leslie, MPCharlotte Leslie, MP for Bristol North West

We would like to invite you to join us for one of Mark Formosa’s, now famous, curry lunches to take place at West Monkton Village Hall on the 19th September at 12:30.  Mark will be varying his repertoire on this occasion with a Thai theme.

We will also be joined by our guest speaker Bristol North West MP Charlotte Leslie.
